How to Permanently Delete Your Facebook Account

Download Your Data

Go to Settings > Your Information > Download Your Information. Select the data you want and choose JSON format for portability. This process can take hours for large accounts.

Notify Your Contacts

Let friends and family know you're leaving. Share alternative contact methods like Signal, email, or phone numbers before deleting.

Remove Connected Apps

Go to Settings > Apps and Websites. Remove all third-party apps connected to your Facebook account. Update login methods for any service using Facebook SSO.

Deactivate or Delete

Go to Settings > Your Information > Deactivation and Deletion. Choose 'Permanently Delete Account.' Facebook gives you 30 days to change your mind before data is erased.

Clear Residual Data

Delete the Facebook app from all devices. Clear browser cookies and cached data. Consider also deleting Instagram and WhatsApp to fully exit Meta's ecosystem.
