How to Install and Configure Brave Browser

Download and Install

Visit brave.com and download for your platform (Windows, Mac, Linux). Installation is quick — Brave is Chromium-based so it works like Chrome immediately.

Import from Your Current Browser

On first launch, Brave offers to import bookmarks, passwords, history, and extensions from Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. Accept to maintain your browsing setup seamlessly.

Configure Shield Settings

Click the Brave Shield icon in the address bar. Set trackers to 'Aggressive,' upgrade connections to HTTPS, and block fingerprinting. Adjust per-site if needed.

Set Up Default Search

Go to Settings > Search Engine. Choose DuckDuckGo or Brave Search as default. Both respect privacy. Remove Google from the list if you want to break the habit.

Disable Brave Rewards (Optional)

If you don't want BAT tokens and ads on new tabs, go to brave://rewards and disable Brave Rewards. This removes all Brave advertising from your experience.

Install Essential Extensions

Brave supports Chrome Web Store extensions. Install Bitwarden for passwords, uBlock Origin for extra blocking, and any development tools you need.
